The guy-magnet perfume

I’ve been going through a perfume obsession phase where I get antsy to test new perfumes every month. This perfume isn’t necessarily my cup of tea because it is a little bit strong and dark to me, but consistently gets me the most free drinks at bars. It might be a coincidence, but guys seem to gravitate towards this scent. Maybe it’s because bars smell of strong body odor and beer, so it’s crucial for a stronger and more unique scent to draw men in.

I picked up the mini fragrance mist of this randomly because I was getting the body lotion and body mist of Twilight Woods, and BBW happened to be having a Buy 2, Get 1 Free sale. Lucky me. This stuff was initially too strong and I couldn’t really get used to it. One night, feeling like switching things up, I decided to use this instead of my typical night out perfume, Britney Spears Fantasy.

The aroma makes you feel confident when you are out. People can smell you even though the bars reek. I got plenty of compliments from girls and guys seemed to approach me more. I wore it out a few more weekends and noticed the same thing. I usually get a few compliments for BS Fantasy, and occasionally some compliments for Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy (my other go-to), though this scent seems harder to detect in a crowded bar situation. I never get compliments for Twilight Woods when I go out; it only happens when I’m running errands during the day.

So to all the ladies out there who are trying to have fun and flirt all night, give this Dark Kiss a shot!

every november, victoria's secret does the promotion where you get a vs secret angel card (worth $10 or more) for any purchase over $10.

of course i can't resist. i found myself browsing vs for about 90 minutes, which is 60 minutes longer than i usually spend in any given store before the salespeople start giving me dirty looks and scare me off.

i decided to raid the beauty section and tested all the different "featured" perfumes. most of them are fairly forgettable. they aren't bad, they just aren't worth the extra money.

lo and behold...vs very sexy (in a snow white red bottle). oh. em. gee. this stuff is sex in a bottle. where was this when i wanted to be super sexy for halloween?? this smells AMAZING. i've talked about my fave scents before (here) but that was before i found the most perfect perfume that gives every girl a reason to wear lacy lingerie. 

perfume review: it is rather strong and a little does go a long way, so don't overdo it or you'll make everyone feel sick. i smell musk and vanilla, with strong floral notes. it's everything i imagine a vs model would smell like while strutting the runway. i swear, this stuff makes me 2x more confident when i talk to others. guys loveee it too, which is always a bonus.

i ultimately picked up the shimmery lotion (limited edition, sold only during the holidays!) because i got a huge bottle for $20. i shall return to vs in december and use my angel card (oh, please please please be worth $500) to get the actual perfume. 

must get this in time for all those mistletoe opportunities holiday parties.

happened to be at ulta today so i sprayed myself with wonderstruck again. on my cardigan, wonderstruck totally reminds me of bath & body works' twilight woods collection. i used to have a bottle of the twilight woods lotion so the smell is all too familiar to me. twilight woods seems a little stronger, but the general scent is the same.

i still love wonderstruck a little bit more (mostly because i secretly want to say i am wearing taylor swift when people ask), but if you are strapped for cash and looking for a decent alternative, twilight woods is your friend.

Just because you sit in front of books and a computer all day does not mean you can’t experiment with flirty and girly scents. The sense of smell is the strongest human sense and can have huge impacts on the brain. Here is a roundup of my FAVORITE perfumes:

1. Victoria’s Secret Dream Angels Heavenly

My friend bought this for me five years ago and I have been wearing it periodically since! It is sexy but soft and reminds me of a perfect winter morning at Starbucks sipping a pumpkin spice latte while listening to Michael Buble’s holiday album. I feel warm, cozy, and loved when I wear this.

2. Britney Spears Fantasy

I swear, every girl has a bottle on her perfume tray. Not only is the bottle adorable and a nice piece of decor for the room, but the perfume is also equally amazing. It is sweet and sugary but not so overbearing that it gives me a headache (and I am susceptible to fumes). It reminds me of a first date, feeling red in the cheeks and absolutely giddy as you walk into your house and obsess over every detail of the most perfect night out. I am living out my crush in my fantasy.

3. Paris Hilton Can Can

 I was pleasantly surprised by how good this one was! Putting aside my feelings for the celebrity behind this, Can Can is just like Fantasy and nothing like Fantasy. It is sweet and warm with musky and floral accents. It is more mature than Fantasy, like your signature scent when you are entering the serious phases of a relationship. He must get close to you.

4. Taylor Swift Wonderstruck

I am a huge fan of Taylor Swift’s smashing hit “Enchanted” and can sing you the lyrics in my sleep. She is THE songwriter of this generation’s youth. Even though I am older than her target audience (teens and young adults), I can still relate to her lyrics as they remind me of my high school days:

Been there, felt that.

Her new perfume Wonderstruck embodies all the emotions in her song. It is vanilla embellished with some sweet raspberries. You are alone after meeting your potential future boyfriend. You can’t relax. You fall asleep smiling.

5. Burberry Brit

Such a classic. It is similar to BS Fantasy but less sweet. Some have suggested Fantasy was inspired by this. It reminds me of tall, lanky models with high cheekbones wearing Chanel and Gucci. I feel sophisticated and like “a lady” when I wear this.
