my latest infatuation: watches

Every year, there is one item that I just cannot get enough of. Last year, it was purses. All sizes, shapes, and colors. This year, I have entered into the big watches phase, where I find myself drooling over the watches on display wherever I shop. Big-faced watches are trendy at the moment. It almost looks like women are wearing men’s watches, and there is something just so sexy about that. If you have to wear a BORING conservative suit everyday, you need all the accessorizing you can get to bring out your personality and style!

Watches are also important because you don't want to be the person who is always looking at her iPhone during a meeting to see how many minutes are left!

At first, some may be skeptical about purchasing a watch. First, a watch might seem like a pain to wear, like something obnoxious on your wrist. I used to feel the same way, but I can honestly tell you that your wrist will soon get used to the watch and it won’t bother you much after a while. The second reservation may be the cost. A good watch is an investment. It won’t be as cheap as sunglasses, but you can certainly find some that are modestly priced. Also remember that you will potentially wear this watch everyday for years to come (another reason to invest in a higher quality watch). The cost per wear is actually slight.

Here are some of my favorite picks for 2012:

1. Relic Silver-Tone & Resin Crystal Watch - $75

This watch is simple but adorable and can be worn in the office during the day or to girls’ night out at night. The diamonds add the perfect amount of glam. I LOVE the clear straps because it makes this watch easy to match every outfit or occasion!

2. Fossil Women's ES2540 White Resin Analog Multifunction Watch - $100

This white-strapped watch is bold and noticeable without being over the top. It is striking against my skin and adds gorgeous bright white color to my outfit. White seems like a summer color, but this white watch works for all seasons of the year! I always get compliments when I wear this!

3. Michael Kors Quartz Brown Dial with Tortoiseshell Bracelet - $195

The tortoise shell watch by Michael Kors has been really popular among young women this year. The tortoise shell is retro and classy and catches the eye quickly! It is perfect for the office or a nice night out and pretty much works with any outfit.

4. GUESS Feminine Contemporary Watch - $150

Gold-tone watches are in at the moment, and for good reason! Gold is classy and dressy and makes any outfit look more glamorous. The gold watch is especially striking when worn with a black top or jacket. I feel like a princess when I look down and see something shiny and beautiful on my wrist!
Final shopping tip: Even though watches are solid investments, that does not mean you can't keep an eye out for a good deal! Costco regularly sells high quality designer watches for a discount. Also check out your local Ross, Marshall's, or TJ Maxx for any watches -- I found some really nice expensive watches at these stores for around $20-30! Stay fashionable AND frugal!
